Android G1 - three days in...

Well, the battery is shite.

This, so far, is the only bad point, and slightly spoils an otherwise perfect, in the geeky sense, 'must have' toy.

The Yanks are getting larger capacity batteries shipped as replacements - not in the UK though.

Anyway - good(ish) points:

  • GPS is fun - and could be handy, I'm sure.
  • WiFi makes apps and browsing faster, and doesn't use bundled bandwidth allowance.
A downloadable WiFi scanner will identify and 'mark' Open WiFi networks ;-)
  • Lots of downloads from the 'Market' - I've now got a spirit level on my phone!
  • SSH works exactly as I need.
  • Google Apps sync seamlessly - and pretty much in real time.
  • Built in email app will collect POP3 or IMAP from numerous accounts.

All in all, pretty good, and fun.  Now if only the battery would last lon[CLICK]
